What Erin Treats

depression

mood disorders

A depressed mood or frequent changes in mood can make everyday life responsibilities much more difficult to manage. Learning how to reduce the impact of mood changes on one’s daily functioning and learning how to have more control over one’s mood-state can help a person achieve and maintain the life they want.

anxiety

PosT-traumatic stress disorder

obsessive compulsive disorder

major life transitions

Divorce/separation, a new baby or change in family dynamic, changes in job or financial status, new relationship, recent move, loss of a loved one are all examples of life events that can increase stress, decrease effective coping, and can lead to other problems if left without support. Seeking therapy to assist with building capacity for managing these changes can increase feelings of competence and self-efficacy, and decrease feelings of loneliness and despair.

emotion dysregulation and interpersonal difficulties

borderline personality disorder symptoms

Emotional sensitivity/vulnerability, difficulty regulating emotions, impulsivity, difficulty in interpersonal relationships, chronic problematic thoughts, self-injury, chronic suicidal ideation, loneliness, anxiety, depression and irritability may all be present with BPD. A DBT informed approach in addition to DBT skills training may help to reduce symptoms and difficulties. If many symptoms are present and are severe, there are treatment programs that specialize in providing Comprehensive and Adherent Dialectical Behavior Therapy which may be the right fit for beginning treatment. Erin Kelly, MA, LMFT often works with individuals who have completed a comprehensive DBT program and wish to continue with a professional who is knowledgable and skilled in delivering DBT from an informed perspective.
